#35 Dave Hollis - Built Through Courage

Episode #35

Sitting down with Dave Hollis was like sitting down with an old friend.   After educating about emotions for so many years, I was surprised to learn from Dave about how much he understood about his own emotions.  Affectionately calling his  Anxiety - Clarke - because he agrees with me that you have to name your emotions and identify what they are telling you, embrace those message and adjust accordingly. Dave shares with us about his change in careers and his transition into a mainstream fatherhood and how he struggled with his identity once becoming an entrepreneur and not having he status of the Disney Corporation beside his name. While with Disney, Dave discovered that storytelling was his superpower.  That he could walk into a room, read it and know exactly what it was that they needed to hear.  He was a shape-shifter. And while you would figure that these qualities would be a gift, he found later that they actually didn't serve him.  That he wasn't connecting to the people who were struggling the way he was struggling and storytelling didn't afford him the opportunity to help people because of the way I was telling stories -- they didn't reflect what anyone was really needing. So he had to make a decision.  A difficult decision because of so much muscle memory around storytelling -- and that he was going to have to own his own stuff. There are so many lessons in Dave Hollis' story, this is an incredible episode. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shelly-qualtieri/message
