Book with Tanya
“I realized that the borders and the obstacles in our lives can only do two things: stop us dead in our tracks or force us to be creative” ~Amy Purdy

Tanya understands that the education and justice systems can be overwhelming and daunting places for people, especially when their loved ones are struggling or involved in a situation where answers are hard to find.   Using her vast knowledge of the processes, procedures, and documents available to support a broad range of an individual’s needs, the hope is to assist youth and their families in feeling understood, empowered, respected, and heard while also creating consistent and restorative strategies to use in their daily lives.

Tanya has co-facilitated many sessions on suicide and has also been an event speaker at several conferences in both BC and Alberta. In addition to the School Board, her time is shared working and volunteering with youth involved in the justice system, where she helps those between the ages of 12 to 18 be diverted from receiving a formal charge. In 2019, Tanya was awarded the Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Justice Award for Service Enhancement, which recognizes the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations promoting community justice in the province. In 2018, Tanya received recognition for her Community Justice Award for Community Collaboration. Tanya is also active in the Calgary sports community, serving as an executive member on the Board of Directors for local hockey and lacrosse associations.

During Tanya’s free time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, a good, hot cup of coffee and being a mom to athletes where she can have 1:1 time with her kids while travelling to practices, games and tournaments around the Province.
